Harvard Law grad lawyer-turned-designer Amber Hagen launched her first clothing line in 2004 after five grueling years as a corporate lawyer. Born and raised in Manhattan's East Village, Amber had been knitting for friends and family since high school - long before knitting was "the new yoga", long before the East Village was cool, and long before she realized the new yoga just might be her new career. 

Of course, launching a fashion line is no small task when you're a junior corporate associate at an L.A. mega firm - there are the stock purchase agreements and merger closings to tend to (not to mention explaining to senior partners the balls of vanilla silk boucle yarn rolling out from under your desk). But the small cult following that emerged, buying handknit baby sweaters directly form Amber, grew to require a more formal approach and the Amber Hagen line was officially born. 

In 2006, Owen Hagen was born, followed by twins Henry and Everett in 2009 - which have been the 3 very best reasons for leaving corporate America.
